South African gay couple father triplets using their DNA

Theo and Christo Menelaou, a same-sex couple in South Africa, are now fathers to triplets who share both fathers’ DNA as a surrogate agreed to bear their children:  the couple are biological fathers, with one egg each having been fertilised with a different dad’s DNA. Sky News reported that the Menelaous met the surrogate at a neighbourhood meeting that held during former Paralympian Oscar Pistorius’ trial. The couple were  neighbours of Pistorius. Sky News reported that the Menelaous are believed to be the first same-sex couple in South Africa to have triplets – two girls and a boy – which include identical twins, using a surrogate. Their surrogate gave birth prematurely in early July 2016, with Joshua, Zoe and Kate each weighing only about two pounds.
